Objective
Students will create models to learn about the processes of weathering and erosion and how they can affect soil and wildlife. They will discover how good land management practices promote stewardship and can help prevent damage that can be caused by both processes.

- One brightly colored piece of sidewalk chalk (per group)

Activity Preparation
- The activity in this lesson involves creating a model and is intended to be created in student groups of 3-4 participants.
- Prepare trays for each group with the following materials: One plastic vial or cylinder with a lid, filled ½ to ¾ full of table salt (Vials or cylinders can be obtained through most pharmacies.); One piece of colored sidewalk chalk (Chalk will need to be broken into a piece that fits into the vial or cylinder for this activity.); One paper towel
